Position Title: Accounting Clerk – Temporary Contract Position

The Opportunity (in Port Credit, Mississauga):
We have a current need for an enthusiastic, experienced and highly capable “Accounting Clerk” in Port Credit, Mississauga. This position will be responsible for managing the accounts receivable, hourly payroll and general accounting duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Accounts Receivable:

  • Maintain accounts receivable records
  • Contact customers on a regular schedule as required, to ensure timely receipt of accounts receivable payments
  • Various accounting reconciliations to ensure receipt of materials, and that purchase orders and inventory transactions match

Payroll for Hourly Staff

  • Prepare hourly employee payroll on a weekly basis using ADP system
  • Ensure accuracy of payroll
  • Retain payroll documentation
  • Serve as liaison with hourly staff related to payroll and administration

Back-up to Customer Service and Administration

  • Provide back-up relief to the Customer Service and Administration functions as required, processing customers’ orders and providing status updates on existing orders, in accordance with our requirements for consistently high levels of service and product delivery
  • Provide other administrative services, including reception relief and clerical support, as required.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent and accurate keyboarding and computer skills in MS Word, Excel and Outlook;
  • Experience with automated payroll systems; knowledge of ADP is preferred.
  • Experience in an ERP environment is preferred; knowledge of “Visual Manufacturing” system will be a distinct advantage;
  • Experience and proficiency in general office administration procedures;
  • Excellent listening, reading, writing and oral English Skills;
  • Proficiency in performing arithmetic calculations;
  • Solid record-keeping skills and attention to detail;
  • Self-managing, organized, able to plan and establish priorities and manage completion of multiple tasks;
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, co-workers, clientele and the public.

Education and Experience

  • Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution, preferably in a business-related discipline, or equivalent education and experience;
  • Minimum two years’ experience in a similar function, backed up by solid employment references.

Compensation

This is a temporary contract position. Salary is commensurate with experience.
